Growing up in an athletic family, I began playing badminton at age 5, and by age 15 I was a two-time national champion. With parents as coaches, my entire family played the sport. We put on badminton exhibitions throughout Seattle, including halftime performances during Seattle Sonics games (back when Seattle HAD the Sonics.)
I began playing tennis at the age of 23 and played in only one tennis tournament – the USTA Mother/Daughter Senior Nationals – where my mom, Joyce Jones, and I were pleased to finish in 3rd place.
After taking a 20-year hiatus from playing tennis to raise my kids, I am now easing back into the sport.
